Come HUNT with us at PAVILION BUKIT JALIL

CHARITY FUN ADVENTURE HUNT 2022

We are back ... and YOU should be excited !!

Are you itching for Hunts after 2 years of laying down your investigative hat ?
Does solving riddles make you all excited ?
Want to play fun activities and games with your kids in a shopping mall ?
Looking for team building events to hype up your company ?
Will you get off your feet and join us to help charity organizations ?

This is our 3rd instalment of having a treasure hunt in a shopping mall. It's bigger this time around... I mean, REALLY BIG. In terms of shopping mall size, Pavilion Bukit Jalil is bigger than Mid Valley Megamall. Walking complete rounds of each of the five floors in total will get you 5 kms on your Fitbit. Yes! You read that correct. We will be having this year's Hunt at Pavilion Bukit Jalil.

The last time in 2018, we had over 150 teams or 600 participants who went hunting in Da Men Mall. Here are some photos.

This year our Hunt goes to Pavilion Bukit Jalil. If you haven't been to this brand new shopping mall, then it is a prime opportunity for you and family to explore this magnificent place during this Hunt. Here is a video to entice you, click HERE.

A great BIG THANK YOU to
for sponsoring this charity event.

As always our events are entirely for charity. The confirmed beneficiaries so far are Persatuan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Kajang Selangor (disabilities centre in Kajang), Desa Amal Jireh (to benefit old folks home in Semenyih) and HH Centre (orphanage in Ipoh). During the last year of the pandemic, these NGOs have been struggling to keep afloat as donations have been on an all time low. They still need help today and with 'A Piece Of Hope' lending support to organize this charity event, your participation in this Hunt will greatly help to raise funds for these NGOs.

Remember, there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple.
—Scott Adams (b. 1957)

Some consolation prizes will be given out too. On top of these, each team will get a chance for some lucky draw prizes as well. All products and prizes are sponsored.

This event is an extension of our many successful annual charity fundraising event, A PIECE OF HOPE : MT. KINABALU. Back in 2017, we did more than Mt. Upon finishing, there will be various activities such as lucky draws, stage shows, games and mini charity bazaar. The beneficiary NGOs will setup stalls to showcase their work and probably sell items for charity. The confirmed NGOs as of writing are Desa Amal Jireh, Persatuan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Kajang Selangor (PKIK) and Rumah Victory.

Like in all of our other charity events, we will give away 100% of participants’ registration fees to the NGOs, none will be held back. So come and join us now. Details below:

What Happened !?

This phrase is quite alarming for some, yes I agree. You might asked what had APOH done for charity in 2018. Although we have been quiet for most of 2018 in blogging, we are actually in the background still working. Here is a quick run down of the two events that we did for 2018, alas mostly in pictures (a picture speaks a thousand words :-)

We would like to record our sincere thanks to all donors and participants that has made our charitable effort successful. The NGOs that you helped is indeed grateful but most of all, you had better their lives in some way or another, that is more treasurable!!

A special commendation to Rotary Club of Metro KL for being so supportive to us in 2018.

APOH charity events this year? Yes there are two. The first being the annual ‘A Piece Of Hope : Mt Kinabalu Charity Climb’ that is happening in just a few days time from 5 - 8 July. Largest Treasure Hunt in a Mall ?!

You are kidding me! No, no, no. Look at the photos below of last year's treasure hunt we had. We got more than 500 participants that walked through the mall in an effort to be the first to complete all the hunt questions.

Now we had come one full circle! The LARGEST treasure hunt in a mall is back again! As exciting or more from the last one, we are now planning it to happen on the 9th December 2018. The hunt will be at the same mall and this should be an added advantage for those who had participated in back in 2017. Easier for you? Come and find out. There will be no less adventure as more unique task and questions are planned.

As in all our events, we raise funds for NGOs. Charity is in the heart of A Piece Of Hope events and this time around we have chosen Beautiful Gate Puchong, Beautiful Gate Kepong and HH Centre. The first 2 NGOs mentioned helps disabled and mentally challenged people, whereas HH Centre which is in Ipoh helps underprivileged children. We target to raise RM40,000 through this hunt.

Those who would like to help us help these NGOs by sponsoring this hunt, please feel free to contact us at apieceofhope@gmail.com. We need all the help we can get! If you can't help in this way, come join us for the hunt and gather as many friends as possible to join in. Spaces are limited to 150 teams (4 pax maximum per team and further details are contained in the registration form).

So don't wait anymore, time and tide waits for no man. Click on the X-MAP below to go to the Online Registration Form and join the 'A Piece Of Hope : Charity Fun Adventure Hunt 2018'.

Treasure Waiting To Be Discovered

Yes! It is a mere 2 weeks more to A Piece Of Hope : Charity Fun Adventure Hunt at Da Men Mall. All preparations are almost ripe and ready. With almost 130 teams registered to hunt, it will be the LARGEST event to date at Da Men Mall. Short to say that it is one of the BIGGEST participation in a mall for a treasure hunt. We couldn't have done it without YOU as the participants and supporters of A Piece Of Hope (APOH).

The committee has been hard at work since 3 months ago to put this 1st ever APOH Treasure Hunt event. Normally we would be climbing Mt. Kinabalu or running in the serene surroundings of MAEPS, Serdang. This would be the 4th charity event that APOH has organised so far this year and it would be the last one. No, we are not calling it quits yet but come next year, there will be more.

Anyway, the A Piece Of Hope : Charity Fun Adventure Hunt t-shirts will be ready for collection next Saturday, 11th November. Details are below:

A Piece Of Hope : Charity Adventure Fun Hunt 2017

This time, APOH is not organising a run, nor a climb, nor creative merchandising but an adventure treasure hunt. This event will benefit 2 children based NGOs namely Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal Malaysia (IQ70) and Yayasan Sunbeams Home. Both are very different NGOs. The former is a centre that helps disabled children and the latter is an orphanage (which APOH has helped before).

A Piece Of Hope : Charity Adventure Fun Hunt 2017 will be held at Da Men Mall in USJ Subang Jaya. This fun hunt will feature loads of head scratching questions, encrypted clues and also ‘adventurous’ physical challenges. This event happens on the 19th November 2017 at 9am. We will be expecting a crowd of 600 participants in teams of 4 pax. Families are encourage to join as it will be a safe environment for childrens' participation.

So just leave the hand-sweaty task of organising to us and come join us on this adventure fun hunt. We must say it is going to be a very challenging and fun event to organise but we are up to it, we just need YOU to be there.

Click HERE for Terms and Conditions of the event.

** NOTE: this event is also known as APOH Charity Adventure Fun Hunt **

Clueless in the Past and Present

A Piece Of Hope : Fun Run & Walk 2017 which was held on 4th June was indeed a very successful event. Clueless still, never had we thought we could gather 1,200 participants for this charitable cause for 3 children based NGOs. We got to give a million thanks again to all the hard working people behind-the-scene who had made this possible. Looking back to that very day had us all stand so proud.

Just merely 3 months after, APOH is again embarking on another charity drive event. This time it is not a run, not a climb, not creative merchandising but an adventure treasure hunt called A Piece Of Hope : Charity Adventure Fun Hunt 2017. Wondering what is this event all about and you are Clueless? No worries, read the subsequent blog for more info.

A Piece Of Hope : Fun Run & Walk 2017

To registration website

A PIECE OF HOPE : FUN RUN & WALK 2017 is the second installment of our run & walk charity event (the first was in 2014 in which attracted 1,000 participants, visit www.facebook.com/APOHrunwalk to find out more).
This event is an extension of our many successful annual charity fundraising event, A PIECE OF HOPE : MT. KINABALU. A PIECE OF HOPE or aptly known as APOH, was conceived in 2007 as a fundraising campaign vehicle during Mt. Kinabalu climbs. However uniquely last year we did not climb Mt. Kinabalu and instead we embarked on a collaborative effort with Pavilion KL in a CNY monkey painting project in which raised over RM260,000 for all past nine APOH helped NGOs.
A PIECE OF HOPE : FUN RUN & WALK 2017 will be held on 4 June 2017 at MAEPS Laman 2, Serdang, Selangor. The event will start with the run followed by the walk at 7.10am. Upon finishing, there will be various activities such as lucky draws, stage shows, games and mini charity bazaar. The beneficiary NGOs will setup stalls to showcase their work and sell items for charity. These NGOs are Shelter Home for Children, Rumah KIDS and Persatuan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Kajang Selangor. We expect approximately 1,500 participants of all ages for our event.
As always, we are giving 100% of participants’ registration fees to the NGOs, none will be held back. So come and join us now. Details below:

Monkeys out Moneys in

Never have I thought painting can be so exhausting but yet fulfilling. The Three Wise Monkeys charity project in collaboration with Pavilion KL just feels that way. All the hard work put in for the month long painting sessions in January finally paid off handsomely. Selling the monkeys was equally challenging as we had to source out all contacts be it individual or corporate. This time around Pavilion KL’s team did a superb job at sell pushing as many monkeys as possible so that maximum donation amount can be achieved. Bravo to them for the effort!

A closing ceremony for the Three Wise Monkeys charity project was held at Pavilion KL on 29th March 2016. It was graced by Puan Sri Cindy Lim, deputy chairman of Pavilion KL and many invited generous donors. APOH committee members (Jimmy Lim, Doreen, Engu, Mok Jee Sang, Capt. Lim, Tatt Boon, Ted) were also present to lend support. Representatives of the 9 children based NGOs supported by APOH in the past, also came to be part of the event.

In the event, it was unveiled that a total of RM600,000 was collected. A large amount indeed for a first time joint collaborative effort of APOH with Pavilion KL. Puan Sri Cindy Lim in her speech mentioned that it is truly an unexpected success to have reached such an amount in all of Pavilion KL’s CSR projects. She later unveiled Pavilion KL’s ‘Charity At Heart’ logo which will to be used for all their CSR projects in future.

So, monkeys out moneys in. The amount collected will be fairly distributed by Pavilion KL among the 9 children based NGOs, selected old folks homes and other NGOs from up coming Pavilion KL’s CSR projects.

Once again, a great big THANK YOU to Nippon Paint for sponsoring their paints in such wonderful colours. A note of appreciation to project partners Tenmoku Pottery and Art Venture Resources for creating the monkeys for us to paint. A resounding applause to SJKC Choong Wen for lending their canteen to us to conduct mass painting sessions.

With the closing of the Three Wise Monkeys charity project, APOH’s charity initiatives is not at its end but just beginning, for other projects.

Lets monkey around instead of climbing mountains

Climbing Mt. Kinabalu will always be our first love. This mountain has been scaled by many APOHer through the 9 years of A Piece Of Hope charity campaign. Many fond memories will definitely stay with the 1,500 odd climbers that has reached its peak or somewhere in between. These climbers in a way are our APOH Heroes whom have helped contribute or raise funds for charity, your participation and effort is applauded.

For the past years of climbing Mt. Kinabalu plus an inaugural Fun Run & Walk in 2014, APOH has helped to raise more than RM1,600,000 in cash for 9 children support type NGOs in and around the Klang Valley. Last year, our Mt. Kinabalu climb was canceled due to a magnitude 6.0 earthquake that struck the mountain, but that didn’t stop us from raising funds. A total of RM120,000 was raised first for the 4 perished mountain guides’ families and then for Persatuan Insan Istimewa Cheras Selangor. Now going into the 10th year, APOH committee members have decided to raise funds in a totally different way since organising to climb Mt. Kinabalu now poses many logistical obstacles (alas we will definitely climb it again).

Never have it occur to us that we would turn to our softer self (since climbing mountains is deemed to be hard and tougher self) by painting monkey figurines for charity. Creativity is needed and not strength or endurance. A target is set to paint not a dozen but 3,000 monkeys!! This a figure that gets one’s hand shaking and another numb just by thinking of it. An ambitious plan indeed.

In collaboration with Pavilion KL, the THREE WISE MONKEYS charity campaign is another milestone for APOH. Planned and set in conjunction with Chinese New Year 2016, this charity campaign hope to raise RM500,000 for the 9 children based NGOs supported by APOH in the past (the list can be found at the end of this article).

Watch this video above OR click on this link to go to YouTube

The sale of the THREE WISE MONKEYS has started and is gaining momentum even as the monkeys are being painted and delivered in stages. So far over 300 children (including children from the NGOs) and adults have helped in one way or another to carefully paint these monkeys in several locations around KL.

Members of the public who would like to donate or buy the THREE WISE MONKEYS collection sets can contact Pavilion KL at 03-2118 8843 or go to the mall itself. Alternatively, you can contact any of the APOH committee members through WhatsApp (012-3667999, 012-3353055, 012-2020511, 012-3006161, 012-2082351, 012-2016121) or email us at apieceofhope@gmail.com.

Price of these cute and creatively painted monkeys are from RM388 per set of 3 monkeys.
